The Mystery Blogger Award

Hey! I haven’t posted in a long time, (I definitely didn’t forget I had a blog or anything...) but I’ve been nominated for The Mystery Blogger Award by Quinley (you definitely should check out their blog, they do drawings, acting and writing:

http://adventure1359.blogspot.com/)

I didn’t even know this award existed until now, but nonetheless I am honoured that my blog was thought of, so thank you 😊

The rules for this award are simple:

1) Display the award logo on your blog.

2) Mention Okoto Enigma, the creator of the award.

3) Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.

4) Answer 5 questions from the blogger who nominated you.

5) Tell your readers 3 things about yourself.

6) Share the link to your best post.

7) Nominate 10 – 20 bloggers and notify them that they are nominated.

8) Ask your nominees 5 questions of your choice, including 1 weird or funny question.

9) Continue the chain!!

Here is the award logo:

And I feel it’s important to mention Okoto Enigma (even if it wasn’t in the rules) who created this award so that small blogs can be recognised. Thank you for that!

So, Quinley left me some questions (they asked the five and then two more bonus ones, I’m happy to answer all of them!)

  1. Would you rather be a mermaid/merman/merperson for a week, or a fairy for a year?

Ooh good question. Both sound very cool but I think I’d have to go with fairy for a year. Because I’ve always wanted to travel the whole world and who needs to pay for airplane tickets when you have wings of your own πŸ˜‚

2. If you could meet any fictional character, whom would you choose to meet? And why?

Ahhh so many! Probably Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter? I feel like she’d be very interesting to talk to plus she inspires me in the way that she just is herself and doesn’t care what anyone thinks. Or Leo Valdez from the Heroes of Olympus because I find him hilarious. Or Piglet from Winnie the Pooh, because what more could you want then a kind-hearted talking pig?

3. What's your favorite song to listen to right now?

Good question πŸ˜‚ At the moment I keep playing Ignorance by Paramore on repeat because I love it but as I write this I have Waving Through A Window from Dear Evan Hansen stuck in my head which I also love.

4. Would you rather spend a month in a house that is haunted, or in a village that is haunted?

A village - more to explore!

5. What inspired your current project(s)? And how different or similar is your project now from the thing that inspired it?

Well I haven’t posted any of my current projects (but I will be soon!), but at the moment I’ve been doing a lot of fashion design/clothing drawings. I’ve taken inspiration from so many things, but I always try and put my own spin on it. Primarily I draw pop-star style outfits which I base off outfits various pop stars actually wear on-stage. Plus plenty of Disney drawings, and also Melanie Martinez inspires a fair amount of my drawings because I just love her style. I also have been working on multiple novels, however I won’t post them here, but I do have a NaNoWriMo (I’m LunaHufflepuff08 although I don’t think most of my projects are public)

Quinley’s bonus questions are:

Who inspires you to create art?

My art itself is inspired from various artists, however there’s not really anyone that inspires me to create the art in the first place, it’s just something I enjoy.

Would you also like to spend a day in an old fort?

Yes that sounds like fun! (Even if it is haunted πŸ˜‚) it would feel like something out of a fairytale.

Tell the readers three things about myself:

  1. My favourite Greek Goddess is Artemis and my favourite Norse God is Loki (The person who nominated me, Quinley, has the same favourites as me!)
  2. I can play the ukulele (self-taught) and I am trying to also learn guitar, although it’s a bit harder than the ukulele was
  3. I have over 300 books 😁 (it’s a healthy addiction, trust me)

My best post?

Not sure but probably either my drawing of Melanie Martinez:

Or my Little Red Riding Hood inspired play:

I only know four blogs and one of them is the person who nominated me πŸ˜‚

So the other three are gonna get nominated (sorry I can’t do ten):

https://maddiebookworm.blogspot.com/2020/ - she does book reviews (she’s also an awesomely weird friend πŸ˜‚)

https://mybluggles.blogspot.com  - they have some beautiful photography

https://lawhimsy.com/word-nerd-index/ - I’m not sure if I can really nominate them since I have no way of notifying them that I’ve done so since I don’t have social media and the comments are closed on their blog. But either way definitely check it out if you love words as much as I do!

And some questions for my nominees:

  1. Who’s your favourite Greek God/Goddess and why?
  2. If there was a song that summed you up, what would it be?
  3. If you could only have one book to read for the rest of your life, what would it be?
  4. Where would you live if you could live anywhere in the world - other than where you live currently?
  5. If you could act in any play or musical, which one would it be?

And I will be posting some drawings as well as some things I’ve cooked/baked soon!

Birthday Spa Day and Picnic!

Special Birthday day for my mum - isolation edition. So today I spent the whole day pampering my hardworking loving mum for her birthday, which was unfortunately during self-isolation (due to coronavirus). But that didn’t make her special day any less special. For breakfast, my mum woke to a breakfast-in-bed of french toast and fresh fruit with some hot chocolate sauce and a coffee. (see previous post for photos). Then when she left her bedroom, she saw our lounge room all ‘dressed up’ as a day spa. I covered the couch in soft blankets and throw pillows, the tv stand with deliciously scented candles and had other spa-like knickknacks around the place (e.g, dream catchers, a salt lamp etc.). I found a youtube video of 3 hours of an image of a beautiful cascading waterfall with tranquil music and water noises and put it on the tv. She then rested her feet in a heated foot spa and using my homemade sugar cookie foot scrub, I gave her a foot massage. Then using my homemade coconut hand lotion, I also massaged her hands. She then relaxed with puzzle books and mindful colouring in whilst I prepared lunch. I blew up a few balloons and hung up a bunting saying ‘It’s Your Day!’ on it in our backyard, where I had laid out a picnic blanket in the sunlight for us to have lunch on. For lunch I made zucchini slice, crumbed chicken and veggie sticks (with some homemade hummus). Then came the long-anticipated birthday cake. I made a New York Lemon baked cheesecake - my mum’s favourite - and put three candles on top (one for each member of our immediate family). Then we all drove to a local park and went for a walk amongst the beautiful Aussie wildlife until the sun started to set. Then for dinner I made us some butter chicken with coconut rice. All in all it was a lovely day - especially for the birthday girl I’m sure 😊

Day 34 of Isolation - and it’s someone’s Birthday

26th of April, 2020
Day 34 of Isolation. Today is my mum’s birthday. Unfortunately, her birthday is during self-isolation, so we can’t go anywhere and we can’t visit family and friends. Fortunately for her, this means I spend the whole day pampering her. Starting off with a delicious gluten free and dairy free (but certainly not taste free) breakfast-in-bed and then a foot spa and hand massage, then a delicious backyard picnic - complete with a birthday cake. So far I’ve only gotten to the breakfast part (it’s only 10am) but I’ll keep updating later on in the day.
